A new Amy Winehouse biopic about her final years is on the way

@TomTaylorFO

A new biopic about Amy Winehouse’s final years before she tragically passed away at the age of 27 is currently in the works. The feature will follow the narrative of Daphne Barak’s 2010 book Saving Amy which Halcyon Studios purchased the adaptation rights for.

Barak’s book is based on the last three years of her life which she spent with Barak who amassed 40 hours of footage and scores of photographs. The film will see Barak in an executive producer role.

Halcyon Studio CEO David Ellender announced in a statement: “Our team is honoured to be working on this project. Although her career was cut far too short, Amy was the voice of a generation, and we look forward to telling her story in the most poignant way possible.”

While the singer’s untimely death by alcohol poisoning in July 2011 has been widely publicised and reported, it is claimed that the documentary aims to shed new light on the matter.

As of yet, no release date has been announced for the feature documentary but there’s hope it will not be long until the film lands on our doortsep.
