Out 22nd September, ‘Worship The Sun’ is the dreamy sophomore album from LA based rockers, Allah-Las in the follow up to their self titled debut album released in 2012 with label Innovative Leisure.

Consisting of Matthew Correia (drums), Spencer Dunham (bass), Miles Michaud (lead vocal/guitar), and Pedrum Siadatian (lead guitar), for the past two years, Allah-Las have undertaken an expansive tour across North and Central America, Europe and Russia, as well as making the time to record and produce Worship The Sun back home in LA.

With this wholly apt title, Worship The Sun showcases a definitive West Coast influence. Reminiscent of sunshine bands such as the Beach Boys, the Allah Las have successfully combined nostalgic 60s psychedelia and heady blues with an edge of country, all whilst keeping their sound relevant.

With a generous 14 tracks, Worship the Sun provides soothing, laid back lullabies that will send you into the perfect hazy daydream, from the country sounding ‘Better Than Mine’ to title track ‘Worship The Sun’ with it’s warm, summer vibes.

Making full use of the bluesy reverb that comes from a steel pedal guitar, synonymous with this style of music, Allah-Las have teamed echoing vocal harmonies with an ever present and warming Californian drawl.

The feature that sets this album apart though is the use of instrumental tracks. Much like a palette cleanser, these pieces of music provide breathing space for the album as well as exhibiting the band’s musical talents. The twang of ‘No Werewolf’ has a most definite ‘Sultans Of Swing’ sound to it as well as featuring some uber cool hipster riffs. The sultry ‘Yemini Jade’ contrasts with ‘Ferus Gallery’ which provides an uplifting interlude, thoroughly complementing the album.

‘Worship The Sun’ provides all the warmth of an LA sunset throughout, penetrating to the heart of California soul. Perfect as the soundtrack to a chilled out evening and every chance you may have left to embrace the sun as your all-encompassing Lord.

If this is enough to whet your appetite, Allah-Las are hitting the road in the UK this autumn with a 10 date tour at the following dates and venues:
