All Points East: The full set times revealed for The Maccabees headline show
London’s Victoria Park will welcome the return of The Maccabees for the final day of All Points East.
The returning indie icons also curate this year’s Sunday offering. In their Far Out cover story, the band explained that their reunion was inspired, in part, by the London-based day festival.
“All Points East was always that one,” Felix White explained in the interview, “Where it like almost stung a bit sharper when I’d been gone to see Nick Cave or LCD or, whoever it is, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes, you know, in that chunk of time that the Maccabees had been away, you’d always be there and you’d be like playing in your head like, ‘Oh my God, we would have been… Would we have been top of this bill? Second top of this bill?’”
The London five-piece are perched on top of an impressive bill that includes the likes of CMAT, Black Country, New Road, Sex Week, The Cribs, Bombay Bicycle Club, and The Murder Capital.
The ‘Toothpaste Kisses’ group will perform off the back of a triumphant return to Glastonbury earlier this summer. During their show, Florence and the Machine joined the band for a gorgeous rendition of ‘Love You Better’ and a cover of her song, ‘Dog Days’.
The Maccabees thus insert themselves into a festival started in 2018. The inaugural event was a 10-day festival, which included a three-day festival opening and plenty of free interim community days, organised by AEG Presents.
All Points East was headlined by Barry Can’t Swim on August 22nd, and on August 23rd, Raye will top a bill that also boasts FKA Twigs, Jade, and Tyla.
