Aerosmith’s Joe Perry announces North American tour and new band line-up

Joe Perry has announced a string of shows in North America this summer with his Joe Perry Project, which features an all-star rock lineup as his backing band.

The former Aerosmith guitarist announced the news on May 6th via Instagram, explaining that he would perform shows in August this year alongside fellow bandmates guitarist Brad Whitford and with keyboardist Buck Johnson, Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz, and the Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson on lead vocals.

With a number of the new band members having also played on Perry’s last solo album Sweetzerland Manifesto, the guitarist said in a statement: “Well … it’s time to let the music do the talkin’ again. I’m really excited about the JPP line up this year!!!!”

“Most of these guys played with me at the Roxy in LA at the debut event for my latest solo album [Sweetzerland Manifesto] in January 2018,” Perry continued, “They’re all busy as hell but thankfully they’re able to carve out some time for this run.”

He added: “The set list is gonna include my fav JPP cuts, STP, Black Crowes, and with Brad we’ll be hitting the Aero hits and some deep cuts and then ya never know!!!! Gonna be a BLAST, and if you’ve ever been to one of my shows you know the words ‘GARAGE BAND on STEROIDS’ come to mind! See you there!!!!”

The short stint of a tour will include eight shows, beginning on August 13th in Tampa, Florida, and concluding in Port Chester, New York, on August 23rd.

Tickets for the Joe Perry Project tour will go on sale on May 9th via the guitarist’s website.
