’24 Jump Street’ in the works with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum set to return

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are set to return for 24 Jump Street, which is finally set to arrive after years of speculation.

Rodney Rothman, who was a writer on 22 Jump Street in 2014, is set to step up as the director for the forthcoming movie. He penned the script with Hill and Meghan Malloy.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Ice Cube is also locked in talks to reprise his role, as well as Tatum and Hill, who are both in talks, too.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are hopping back on board as producers, as well as Neal H Moritz, who shared an image of the script on Instagram that features the tagline, “It took so long to make we had to skip one,” alluding to the absence of 23 Jump Street.

As it stands, no plot details have been shared.

Only last year, Tatum poured scorn on the idea that another Jump Street movie would ever happen, despite the immense success of the first two movies.

He told Variety, “I don’t think it’ll ever happen. The problem is the overhead. It would cost as much as the actual budget of the film — if not more — because of all the producers involved. It’s just too top-heavy. It falls over every time.”

Tatum told the publication that he, Hill, as well as the directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, had agreed to smaller producer fees to make it work, but Moritz, who also served as a producer, is demanding too much compensation.

“Neal’s price for a producer fee is huge,” Tatum said, before adding, “And to be honest, that’s what’s killing it.”

However, Moritz is on board for 24 Jump Street, so seemingly, that obstacle, which once looked impossible, has now been surpassed.
