Massive Attack are an English musical collective formed in Bristol in 1988 by Robert “3D” Del Naja, Grant “Daddy G” Marshall and Andrew “Mushroom” Vowles. Widely regarded as the pioneers of trip hop, the group fused hip hop, dub, soul, reggae, electronica and ambient music to create a dark, cinematic sound that transformed British music in the 1990s. Their critically acclaimed albums, including ‘Blue Lines’, ‘Protection’, ‘Mezzanine’ and ‘100th Window’, produced enduring tracks such as ‘Unfinished Sympathy’, ‘Teardrop’ and ‘Angel’. Renowned for their political activism, innovative live performances and collaborations with artists including Tracey Thorn, Horace Andy, Elizabeth Fraser and Sinéad O’Connor, Massive Attack remain one of the most influential acts in electronic music.
