Zendaya wants to return for ‘Dune 3’

While a third film still hasn’t been officially announced or confirmed by Warner Bros, it’s looking increasingly likely that Dune 3 is destined to happen and Zendaya wants to be involved.

Director Denis Villeneuve’s opening chapter was a sizeable box office success despite releasing simultaneously in cinemas and HBO Max during the pandemic, before going on to win six Academy Awards from ten nominations.

Anticipation is steadily rising ahead of Dune: Part Two‘s arrival on March 1st, and if the follow-up can emulate the earning power and adulation enjoyed by its predecessor, then Dune Messiah is sure to follow.

For her part, star Zendaya would be very keen on reprising her role as Chani. “Would we be down? I mean of course”, she admitted to Fandango. “Any time Denis calls it’s a yes from me. I’m excited to see what happens”. However, she’s refusing to get too far ahead of herself from either a literary or cinematic perspective.

“I started Messiah and I was like, ‘Woah, I’m only shooting the first movie. Let me just go back to the first one'”, she continued. “It’s so much to take in, but there’s no better hands with better care and love for it than Denis”.

Villeneuve has previously said that from the beginning he “decided to just dream about three movies”, and it stands to reason that the studio will be more than willing to give the go-ahead to Dune Messiah should Part Two live up to expectations.

With the director and one of its biggest stars already voicing their interest, and Villeneuve confirming last year that the Dune Messiah screenplay “is almost finished but it is not finished”.
