Yves Tumor booed off stage in New York: “Hell on earth”
Musician Yves Tumor was booed off stage at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York, after opening for Swedish House Mafia.
On September 11th, the star played an experimental set to open for Stockholm-based band Swedish House Mafia. The crowd did not like the direction the set went in and booed the songs throughout. They cheered when it was finally over.
Tumor addressed the negative reaction almost immediately in their Instagram stories. “If anyone’s curious how the show went, I just got booed offstage for playing the best set of the night by a bunch of the corniest people I’ve ever seen in my fucking life,” Tumor said in a video online.
They went on to add, “This city is truly hell on earth. I thought LA was bad. I thought Berlin was bad. I thought Paris was bad. New York is definitely worse.”
Later, the ‘Limerence’ singer shared screenshots of “subhumans” spamming their comments. They addressed the negativity, writing, “That’s how much they loved it. They had that much energy to search me. I truly love my stalkers.”
They did share one positive comment received in text form from Swedish House Mafia collaborator Alexander Wessely saying, “I’m so sorry, that was fucked up you killed it… me and the guys loved it.”
After many press outlets picked up the story, Tumor also shared their disdain towards the industry. Sharing one such post from Pigs and Plans, they wrote, “Imagine geting booed off stage and having 50+ articles written about you in less than 24 hours.”
They added, “Who the fuck said I was a DJ? I am a pop star and a sex icon: maybe do your homework next time. Or bring ear plugs.”
Tumor’s newest single was released in July 2025. It is a collaborative track with Nina of Bar Italia, and is titled ‘We Don’t Count’, blending Tumor’s signature sound with a throttling post-punk influence.
