Yungblud to soundtrack ‘Trans Is Human’ exhibition at London’s Outernet

Yungblud will provide the soundtrack for a new trans-focused photography exhibition at London’s Outernet venue.

The exhibition was created by transgender-rights activists Jake and Hannah Graf MBE. ‘Trans Is Human’ will be projected on the venue’s screens on November 17th. Yungblud’s track ‘Hello, Heaven, Hello’ will soundtrack the event.

The song, taken off his latest project Idols, has been described by the musician previously as “a journey of self-reclamation—a goodbye to the past and how you may have known or perceived me before, and a ‘hello’ to the future and where I’m going.”

Yungblud has shared that he is “honoured” to be involved in the important exhibition. In a statement, he underlined the exhibition’s celebration of “truth, identity and the beauty of being yourself, unapologetically”.

He added, “That’s something I’ve always tried to celebrate in everything I do. I’m buzzing to play even a small part in telling these powerful stories.”

The exhibition will feature portraits of 13 trans people. “The idea for ‘Trans Is Human’ came about following years and years of misinformation and the demonization of the UK’s trans community that left us almost entirely dehumanized,” said Jake and Hannah in a press release.

Recently, Yungblud received backlash for his tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the MTV VMAs. Alongside Nuno Bettencourt, Joe Perry, and Steven Tyler at his side, Yungblud honoured the late Black Sabbath frontman at the UBS Arena in New York.

The Darkness guitarist Dan Hawkins reacted negatively, deeming it “another nail in the coffin of rock’n’roll”. He also called it “cynical, nauseating and, more importantly, shit”. He concluded by calling those involved “a bunch of bellends”.

Elsewhere, Yungblud will team up with Aerosmith duo Perry and Tyler for the new EP, One More Time, set for release on November 21st. Upon announcing the five-track release, they said in a joint statement, “Long live rock n roll music. Love forever, Aerosmith and Yungblud.”
