Yungblud releases live cover of ‘Changes’ from Black Sabbath farewell show for charity
After performing the Black Sabbath classic ‘Changes’ at their farewell show in Birmingham on July 5th, Yungblud has released the live cover, with all proceeds going to charity.
During the event, which is officially the highest-grossing charity concert of all time, Yungblud performed the hit with a band consisting of Nuno Bettencourt, II from Sleep Token, Frank Bello and Adam Wakeman.
Of his rendition, Ozzy Osbourne commented, “I couldn’t have done it better myself.” Before the set, Yungblud gifted Osbourne a piece of jewellery, and can be heard in a video of the tender moment saying, “Thank you for everything.”
Other acts who performed at Back to the Beginning include Blink-182’s Travis Barker, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Jack Black, Alice In Chains, Billy Corgan, Tool, Slayer, and many more. Every artist on the bill also waived their fee to help raise vital funds for charities close to the heart of Black Sabbath.
More than 40,000 fans snapped up tickets to make the pilgrimage to Sabbath’s hometown to witness the grand farewell. Back to the Beginning was also live-streamed for £24.99, and at one point, it was simultaneously viewed by 5.8 million fans, raising almost $200 million for charity in the process.
Yungblud commented on his appearance at the show, stating, “This was hands down the biggest moment of my entire life. I got to stand on stage and honour one of my heroes, and the fact that it has touched so many is truly overwhelming.”
He added: “The best part about this release is that we can take such a monumental moment, immortalise it on tape, release it and donate all the money to such important causes in Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice. This is what Rock and roll is about. Stream it, buy it, add it to your playlist – let’s raise some fucking money.”
Recently, it has been confirmed that Back to the Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow will arrive in cinemas next year as a 100-minute concert film.
