Yungblud deems Grammy nomination “tragic”

Yungblud has reacted to his Grammy Awards nomination, expressing gratitude but also grief for the late Ozzy Osbourne.

The 28-year-old musician was recently shortlisted for Best Rock Album for his recent release IDOLS and Best Rock Song for his powerful ballad ‘Zombie’. He was also shortlisted for Best Rock Performance for his rendition of ‘Changes’ at Black Sabbath’s farewell concert, Back to the Beginning.

Speaking on the Q podcast, Yungblud admitted of the honour, “I don’t know how I feel about it.”

He went on, “As a singer, to be Grammy nominated for a live performance where you can’t go into a studio and overdub it or make it perfect, it’s a moment that’s gone and you can’t share it with the person you were singing it to.”

Therefore, he confessed, the recognition for him is “an honour, but it’s also tragic.”

Recently, Yungblud announced that he was cancelling the rest of his 2025 shows due to “health reasons”. Impacted dates included a series of shows in Latin America, as well as headline shows in Philadelphia, Cleveland and Washington, DC.

On the podcast, he opened up about the decision, adding, “January first we go to Australia and the world tour continues — we’re booking dates until 2028 now and I’ve got to make another album in the middle of it.”

He went on, “I want to do it justice, and I really want to take the time to feel this and look at it, and I’m not going to feel anything at all if you don’t process things, you become numb.”

The ‘Hello, Heaven’ singer added, “I really want to be present and thankful to the universe and to my idols, and most importantly to my community, who have stuck by me and to look them in the eye and be there for the next 20 years.”

Last month, the star released an EP titled One More Time. The five-track collaboration with Joe Perry and Steven Tyler included a 2025 mix of the classic Aerosmith classic, ‘Back In the Saddle’.
