Yungblud has officially released his cover of the iconic David Bowie song ‘Life On Mars’.
The singer’s version of the track was first debuted as part of a livestream event that was held in January to celebrate what would have been Bowie’s 74th birthday.
“I’m doing a merch drop with NASA and being allowed to release a cover of my favourite song by my favourite artist,” Yungblud said of the cover, before adding: “Someone fucking pinch me.”
In addition to the livestream, Yungblud also received more means of celebration after his special rendition of the Bowie track was played at the very moment NASA completed its most recent Mars landing.
“First of all, I am as ready as a rabbit on Easter,” Yungblud said. “I love space so I am here for it. I remember my 23-year-old manager rings me on the phone. It was late cos he’s in LA and it must have been midnight cos I’d had a couple of beers, so I was already kind of out there.
“He’s like, ‘Yo, I just got off the phone with NASA’. I’m like, ‘Alright, yeah cool, what’s it about? You leaving me to go be an astronaut?’”
