‘You Really Got Me’ Has Really Got The Go-Ahead

The Kinks will have their long-awaited Biopic and it will be directed by the man who brought us the Sex Pistols mock-umentary The Great Rock and Roll Swindle  Julien Temple.

The film will be title You Really Got Me (shocker!) and will feature actors Johnny Flynn (Cloud of Sils Maria) and George Mackay (Pride) as Ray and Dave Davies the infamous squabbling band leaders. The film will also have a little bit of silver screen magic sprinkled upon it with screenwriting duo Dick Clement and Ian Le Frenais.

With the writers of Porridge, The Likely Lads and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet there is bound to be a touch of humour to this incredible story. But more importantly the rights to all of The Kinks songs has been obtained as well as the cooperation of the two brothers.

“This is an exciting chance to tell The Kinks story in a visceral and real way,” Temple told Screen. “The lyrics of The Kinks have always been fascinating to me and there is an amazing human story here as well which has yet to be captured on film”.
