Yes postpone tour due to Steve Howe’s undergoing surgery
Yes have been forced to postpone their nine-date UK tour after announcing that guitarist Steve Howe requires surgery.
The prog-rock legends were slated to hit the road from April 22nd at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow. From there, they had performances lined up in Sheffield, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, and Manchester.
The tour was set to culminate at two shows at London’s iconic Palladium on May 3rd and 4th. Now, all of the dates have been postponed.
The band shared the news via social media, where they revealed that the slew of dates had been “postponed as guitarist Steve Howe requires an essential operation that requires recovery time”.
Yes explained that the difficult decision had been made so that “Steve can return to the stage in full health and deliver the performances that fans deserve.”
The unfortunate news came with the reassurance that the group is working hard behind the scenes to sort out the rescheduling, “with full details to be announced after Easter.”
Fans with tickets for the in-person affair have been encouraged to hold onto them as “they will be valid for the rescheduled dates.” The band has shared that their tour dates later this year in Japan and the United States are unaffected.
The rockers were set to perform their classic 1971 album, Fragile, in its entirety on the tour, as well as offering up songs from across their long career, up to and including their latest release, 2023’s Mirror To The Sky.
Howe, who was born in London in 1947, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 and is an illustrious member of several bands, including Asia, GTR, and Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe.
Yes have cycled through 20 members since the band’s inception. The current line-up includes Howe, Geoff Downes, Billy Sherwood, Jon Davison, and Jay Schellen.
