Yak have collaborated with J Spaceman for their new track ‘This House Has No Living Room’.
The song, which will appear on their upcoming new album Pursuit Of Momentary Happiness, is set for next month on Virgin EMI and Third Man Records.
Putting the finishing touches on the album, Yak frontman Oli Burslem headed to Jason Pierce’s (Spiritualized) studio to piece the work together. During the final days of work, Pierce added some of his own vocals and slide guitar to the track.
“This is the last song we recorded at RAK and it’s definitely my favourite,” Burslem explains. “It sums the whole record up. I guess it’s inspired by mortality and memories of loved ones past and present.
“It also features my good friend John Coxon on piano and harmonica without whom I doubt the band would be where we are today. If it’s the last piece of music I ever make I’ll be happy,” he added.
To coincide, the band has also shared the music video to accompany the song. Directed by Jonny Lu, the video was made with never-before-seen 8mm footage from the archive of elusive cult photographer and filmmaker John Kayser.
