XXXTentacion smashes Taylor Swift’s Spotify streaming record
XXXTentacion has set a new Spotify streaming record with his track ‘SAD!’.
The rapper, who died earlier this week at the age of 20 after being shot, has edged past Taylor Swift’s record for most single-day streams following his death. ‘SAD!’ 10.4 million streams globally, according to SpotifyCharts.com a figure that eclipses Swift’s song ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ which hit 10.1million when it was released on August 25, 2017.
The 20-year-old rapper, real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, died in hospital from multiple shot wounds at the start of the week. XXXTentacion, who was said to be out shopping shopping for motorcycles prior to his death, was shot by two men in a dark coloured SUV as he left the dealership shop in Fort Lauderdale.
XXXTentacion’s manager Soloman Sobande has released an official statement following the death, it read:“On June 18, 2018, Jahseh Onfroy—known worldwide as XXXTentacion—tragically passed away from a gunshot wound in Deerfield, Florida,” the statement begins.
“In deference of his family , friends and loved ones and in light of further investigation, we ask that their privacy is respected at this time,” he added.
“XXXTentacion touched the lives of millions around the globe and will forever reside in the hearts of countless fans who listened to his music, attended his concerts, and felt the glow of his uncontainable, undeniable, and unique spirit.”
