Wolf Alice tease new single ‘The Sofa’ ahead of Glastonbury set
Wolf Alice have teased their new single, ‘The Sofa’, ahead of their appearance on The Other Stage at Glastonbury on June 28th.
The upcoming track is the second single to be released, following ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’, from their forthcoming album, The Clearing, scheduled to arrive on August 29th, 2025, through Columbia Records. No release date has been given for ‘The Sofa’, but it is now available to pre-save on streaming platforms.
On social media, Wolf Alice have released a 40-second snippet of ‘The Sofa’ along with a homemade video of vocalist Ellie Rowsell singing along to the track, which features lines such as, “I can be happy, I can be sad, I can be a bitch when I get mad.”
In the teaser clip, Rowsell can be seen walking down the street while lip-syncing to the recording before entering her home and jumping on her bed.
The track will already be familiar to those who have been fortunate enough to see Wolf Alice perform live recently. ‘The Sofa’ was given its live debut earlier this month during an intimate headline show in Paris and was also included during their triumphant performance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
During a new interview with Radio X following the release of ‘Bloom Baby Bloom‘, Rowsell said of what to expect from the band’s fourth album: “I think you’ll maybe be surprised when you listen to the rest of the record in the context of ‘Bloom Baby Bloom.’ But yeah, a little bit of a taster, but don’t think there’s going to be a bunch more ‘Bloom Baby Blooms’.”
She also said of the personal nature of The Clearing: “I think it explores those themes. I like that you said it feels like a mantra, because I like the idea that of someone listening to it and feeling like that about themselves, yeah.”
Later this year, Wolf Alice will head out on their first headline UK arena tour, which includes huge dates at The O2 in London and the AO Arena in Manchester. Meanwhile, this weekend, they will perform before The Prodigy on The Other Stage at Glastonbury, which promises to be one of the stand-out moments of the festival.
