William Shatner to perform heavy metal set at Riot Fest

William Shatner might be 95-years-old, but that isn’t going to stop him from bringing an extra dose of heavy metal to Chicago’s legendary Riot Fest this summer.

The festival is set to take place between September 18th and September 20th, bringing some of the biggest names from the rock world and beyond to Douglass Park for a three-day extravaganza.

In addition to headliners Tool, Twenty-One Pilots and Pierce The Veil, other acts set to appear include Morrissey, Iggy Pop, Alanis Morissette, Patti Smith, Pixies, Nas, Angine De Poitrine, and Rise Against.

There’s also the intriguing blend of Public Image Ltd and The Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter on the same bill, but sadly for those expecting shenanigans, they won’t be on the same day.

However, the line-up has just got even bigger with the addition of Shatner, who is delighted to be bringing the noise to Chicago.

In a statement, he shared, “I’ve always believed that music, like space, is about exploration. Riot Fest is exactly the kind of place where anything can happen. We’re bringing volume, intensity, and a few surprises.”

Shatner continued, “With this incredible band behind me, I expect nothing less than lift-off. I can’t wait to share this experience with the fans.”

It comes after Shatner previously confirmed plans to release a heavy metal album in February, which has still yet to receive an official title or release date.

At the time, he shared what fans should expect from the LP: “Thirty-five metal virtuosos. Thunderous guitars. Chaos with purpose.
Covers of legends like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest — and a few originals forged in the same cosmic fire.”

Shatner added of the untitled album, “This project is, quite literally, a gathering of forces. Loud imagination. Honest intensity. Unapologetic exploration.”

Seemingly, fans at Riot Fest will get a taste of what to expect from the forthcoming LP.
