Watch Jack White perform with Idles in Chicago at Riot Fest
During their set at Riot Fest in Chicago, Idles were joined by Jack White for a performance of ‘Never Fight A Man With A Perm’.
The iconic punk festival took place this past weekend with Blink-182, Weezer, Jack White and Green Day topping the bill over the weekend. White then made a second appearance during Idles’ sub-headline set on September 21st.
The White Stripes icon assisted on guitar for the riotous cut from Idles’ second album, Joy As An Act Of Resistance. Later on, during the same show, they welcomed fellow British punk act Soft Play to the stage to end their performance with ‘Rottweiler’.
Before White joined the Bristollians in Chicago, Idles frontman Joe Talbot told the crowd, “It’s a great honour… I’d like to welcome onstage Jack White the third.”
Elsewhere at Riot Fest, John Stamos finally appeared at the festival following a long 12-year pursuit from the event to bring him to Chicago. While their previous attempts had fallen flat, Stamos has been playing occasionally with the Beach Boys for 40 years and was part of their band at Riot Fest.
In exchange for Stamos agreeing to appear at the festival, Riot Fest founder Riot Mike had to get a tattoo of the actor and also say yes to a variety of jokingly outlandish demands, such as ensuring a Greek-themed pie was on the menu.
Meanwhile, White has been making a habit of appearing as a special guest at festivals of late. The weekend before his cameo with Idles, he joined Ringo Starr at the Bourbon and Beyond festival in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 13th, to cover The Beatles classic ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’.
At the start of the year, during a special performance at the Ryman Theater in Nashville, White joined Ringo for renditions of the Carl Perkins song ‘Matchbox’, and also The Beatles’ ‘Don’t Pass Me By’.
