Which actor has the most on-screen kills?
It may seem today that all we see is violence in movies and sex on TV, but courting these extremes is an essential part of entertainment. Robert Altman once said, “Filmmaking is a chance to live many lifetimes.” And for many of the characters, those lifetimes have to come to an end; quite often, our on-screen action heroes are those that bring that about.
One actor, in particular, has thrived in this capacity. Surprisingly, he also isn’t necessarily known as a typical action hero. But when you think about it, given that Jackie Chan and Chuck Norris are most known for their hand-to-hand combat, is pretty hard for them to compete with a maniac touting a Tommy Gun. So, the maniac who has racked up 1734 kills on-screen is Samuel L. Jackson.
According to Stats Panda, who counted face-to-face kills and disregarded murderous feats like blowing up the entire population of Alderaan in Star Wars, the Pulp Fiction actor comes out as the deadliest. The bulk of his kills were amassed in Kingsman: The Secret Service, where he apparently wiped out a thousand people in a single movie.
The next highest slayer is Milla Jovovich. The star did the bulk of her killing in the Resident Evil franchise, which I suppose answers the question of whether the zombie-like creatures in that movie universe are technically undead or merely diseased. The rest of her 1299 victims are topped up in the likes of Hell Boy, Ultraviolet and even Joan of Arc.
You can check out the top ten below (narrowly missing out are Nicolas Cage with 588, Chuck Norris with 485, and Keanu Reeves with 387, but the way the John Wick franchise is going, he may well join them soon).

When was the first on-screen kill shown?
The very first on-screen kill was actually a literal death; however, thankfully, it was a rodent rather than a person (not to denigrate the value of a rat’s life too much). Rat Killing was a very Ronseal film from 1894 created by Thomas Edison’s buddy William Kennedy Dickson, who became one of the world’s first directors when he set a rat terrier loose among a gabble of rodents. The film has now been lost, but you can probably guess how it panned out from the synopsis alone.
The first human death on-screen was, however, masterfully make-believe. The 1985 film The Execution of Mary, Queen of Scots, was masterfully crafted by another Edison employee, Alfred Clark, and saw him use innovative techniques to fake the final moments of Mary’s life after she was charged with plotting to overthrow Queen Elizabeth I.
How has had the most on-screen deaths?
Christopher Lee is way out in front as the actor who has died on-screen more than any other. The Wicker Man star – who, outside of filming, also survived the war, witnessed the last use of the guillotine in France, and hunted Nazi war criminals – perished on camera a whopping 70 times.
In second place, you have Dennis Hopper and Vincent Price joint on 48. And third is also a tie with the taco-making king Danny Trejo on 41 alongside Lance Henriksen.
