The Kent-based festival Wheels and Fins has been forced to cancel this year’s event due to “financial constraints” the festival organisers have revealed. The event which was to be curated by local band SLAVES will be delivering news on refunds very soon.
The event was due to take place on the weekend of September 7th and 8th and was due to be curated by the punk outfit SLAVES. The Saturday had Willie J Healey, Lady Bird, Queen Zee, Para Fiction, Hockeysmith, FEET, MarthaGunn, and Ditz on the bill. While Sunday was being headlined by indie darlings of yesteryear Friendly Fires as well as Mystery Jets.
While the 2018 edition, which was curated by The Libertines, enjoyed some great success this has sadly not translated into the steely resolve and financial backing to run an annual event.
“It is with absolute heart-breaking agony that due to financial constraints on our small growing independent festival we have been forced into the devastating decision that Wheels and Fins festival 2019 has been cancelled,” said the festival in a statement.
“To the artists, traders and suppliers who we have worked tirelessly with all year, we apologise for the huge inconvenience this causes. To our loyal ticket holders we are truly devastated to disappoint you and thank you for your continued support.”
A statement on ticket holder refunds is expected in due course.
