Weezer bassist’s wife shot by police in LA and booked for attempted murder
Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, has been shot by police in Los Angeles and also booked for arrested murder.
According to TMZ, the incident took place on April 7th as police officers searched for hit-and-run suspects in Lauren’s neighbourhood of Los Angeles. Before being booked for attempted murder, Lauren was treated at a local hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot.
At 3:25 pm local time, the Los Angeles Highway Patrol requested backup during their investigation of a hit-and-run case involving three cars. News outlet KTLA spoke with witnesses who confirmed that at least one suspect fled on foot from the 134 freeway.
Backup arrived which led to a perimeter being established in the Eagle Rock neighbourhood of Los Angeles. However, while they were in this area, a woman, later identified as Lauren, emerged from the front of her home holding a handgun. Officers say in a press release they told her “to drop the handgun numerous times; however, she refused”.
According to officers, Lauren pointed her handgun at the police which is why they fired at her before she made her way back into her home.
Lauren then emerged again with another woman, later identified to be a babysitter. Both women were then taken into custody before Lauren was treated in hospital for treatment after they concluded she was not involved in the hit-and-run.
They were then released from custody before Lauren was later absentee booked for attempted murder.
Lauren is an author who has written two memoirs, 2010’s Some Girls: My Life in a Harem and 2015’s Everything You Ever Wanted. She has been married to Weezer’s Scott Shriner in 2005 and share two children.
This weekend, Weezer remain scheduled to perform at Coachella in California. The event is headlined by Travis Scott, Lady Gaga, Green Day and Post Malone.
