Waxwork Records are preparing to release the full score to Walter Hill’s film The Warriors as part of the 40th-anniversary celebrations.

The cult film, an American action thriller film based on Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel of the same name, was released in 1979 and has continued to gain notoriety to this day. The story centers on a New York City gang who must make an urban journey of 30 miles (48 km), from the north end of The Bronx to their home turf in Coney Island in southern Brooklyn, after they are framed for the murder of a respected gang leader.

The film’s soundtrack, featuring music by Barry De Vorzon, Joe Walsh, and others, will now be repressed on to 180-gram 2xLP vinyl and features completely remastered tracks. A printed insert and deluxe packaging come as the records are split between “Warriors” red, brown and “Boppers” purple vinyl.

What’s more, the artwork has been made by renowned Marvel Comics artist Dave Rapoza.
