Waxahatchee shares new single ‘Bored’
Waxahatchee has shared her new single ‘Bored.’ The track is taken from her upcoming album, Tigers Blood, set to be released on March 22nd.
Accompanying the song is a video shot in Texas at the Devil’s Backbone Tavern, directed by Nick Simonite and Corbett Jones.
“I feel like my comfort zone when writing songs lies somewhere on the emotional spectrum of sadness and heartache,” Katie Crutchfield said in a statement.
She continued: “Writing from a place of happiness scares me. Too earnest. Anger scares me even more. I wrote ‘Bored’ about one of those situations where anger was called for and was the only authentic place from which to write about what I was experiencing. It was a challenge for me and ‘Bored’ is the end result.”
Crutchfield announced the album in January, along with a video for the single ‘Right Back to It,’ stirring anticipation for the new record.
As well as allowing Crutchfield to expand on her creatively, Tigers Blood sees her team up with new collaborators. Phil Cook, MJ Lenderman and Spencer Tweedy all assist on the record along with producer Brad Cook.
Crutchfield wrote the songs for Tigers Blood while on tour during a “hot hand spell” before heading to the Sonic Ranch in Texas with Cook to lay the tracks down.
Additionally, Waxahatchee has also announced a tour around Europe and the UK which will take place this summer. Crutchfield is set to make stops in Brighton, London, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Belfast as well as an appearance at Latitude Festival in Suffolk.
