Watch Timothée Chalamet in new trailer for ‘Marty Supreme’
The latest trailer for Marty Supreme, the upcoming sports drama starring Timothée Chalamet, has been released.
The new clip follows a similar pattern to the first glimpse of the film, originally seen back in August, where Chalamet plays the titular table tennis star, loosely based on the American sportsman Marty Reisman.
However, set to a soundtrack of a dramatic version of ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’ by Tears for Fears, the new trailer gives a greater insight into the struggles that Marty Supreme faces to convince those closest to him of his dreams to become a table tennis champion.
Within this, Gwyneth Paltrow stars as Kay Stone, a film actor in a relationship with Marty, who asks him in the opening of the trailer if his table tennis ambitions are worth the financial burdens he is placing on himself.
Additionally, it also provides a much greater glimpse into the character of Wally, played by Tyler Okonma – otherwise known as the rapper Tyler, the Creator – who appears to be a close friend and confidant of Marty’s.
The film, being directed by Josh Safdie and produced by A24, has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated movie releases of the year, following its surprise premiere at the New York Film Festival back in October.
Chalamet recently admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that he has been preparing to take on the role for seven years.
“Everything I was working on, it was this secret,” he explained. “I had a table in London while I was making Wonka. On Dune 2, I had a table in Budapest, Jordan. I had a table in Abu Dhabi.”
Marty Supreme will be released in cinemas on December 25th in the United States, and the following day in the UK.
