Timothee Chalamet praises “really chic” ‘Marty Supreme’ co-star Gwyneth Paltrow

Timothée Chalamet only has kind words to say about his Marty Supreme co-star, Gwyneth Paltrow, whom he has deemed “really chic”.

Chalamet is on a great career run; his recent imitation of Bob Dylan in the biopic, A Complete Unknown, left him with an Oscar nomination. His next project to hit cinemas is Marty Supreme, a sports epic film directed by Josh Safdie, loosely based on the real-life ping-pong legend Marty Reisman. In the film, Chalamet stars alongside Gwyneth Paltrow.

Newly speaking with Vogue for their December cover story, the Call Me By Your Name actor praised his co-star. He shared, “Here’s someone whose sense of self-worth and whose sense of how their time is being respected or not has nothing to do with the film industry.”

Chalamet added, “She seemed healthy in that regard—and really chic.” In the film, Paltrow plays a married woman who embarks on an affair with Chalamet’s character.

Paltrow praised him right back and is quoted in the interview as praising him for being a “free and independent thinker”. She added, “You know how a lot of us in conversation are like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah’? He’s sort of like, ‘No….’ He’s always running things through the filter of, ‘How do I actually feel about this?’”

Paltrow also shared humorously that paparazzi had caught the pair in a passionate embrace in New York’s Central Park; her own group texts lit up, as did the internet. “It was so ridiculous,” she recounted. “I was like, ‘You guys, calm down.’ ”

Marty Supreme had its world premiere on October 6th at New York Film Festival during a surprise screening. Safdie and Chalamet introduced the movie, while co-stars, including Tyler, the Creator and Gwyneth Paltrow, appeared after the movie.

It is set to arrive in UK cinemas on December 26th, 2025.
