Filmmaker Damien Leone has released the teaser trailer for his upcoming slasher sequel, Terrifier 3. The teaser debuted exclusively in cinemas on November 1st but is now shared for all to see.
The horror franchise is scheduled to return on October 25th, 2024, with a Christmas twist. The psychopathic killer-clown, Art, is expected to make a gory return dressed in Father Christmas attire as he lets loose on the good folk of Miles County, New York.
It is currently unconfirmed whether Terrifier 3 will have the same release date in the UK, but Signature Entertainment will distribute in the UK as with the previous movies in the franchise.
“Terrifier 2’s remarkable success was driven not only by the insatiable appetite for new and thrilling horror icons like Art the Clown but also by its unparalleled theatrical release and marketing, along with its unyielding spirit,” director Damien Leone said in a recent statement.
“In a cinematic landscape where risk-taking is scarce, I will continue to push boundaries in Terrifier 3, and I can’t wait for you to see what’s in store for Art the Clown.”
“We’re going to have a bigger budget,” he added. “We’re shooting in anamorphic widescreen, so I want it to feel more like an old-school John Carpenter movie. It’s going to still have that epic feel of part two, but now have the tone of part one with Christmas.”
“It’s going to be a completely different beast. It’s going to look different. It’s going to feel different, but it’s still going to have everything you love in it. But it’s going to be very fresh. It’s not going to be like you’re sitting through part one or two all over again.”
The success of the first two movies, especially 2022’s Terrifier 2, depended heavily upon humankind’s fascination with abject horror and violent gore. Cast member Chris Jericho reflected on the movie as a “gross” experience.
“I don’t think people realise that Damien not only wrote this movie and directed it, but he does all the practical effects,” he said in an interview with ScreenRant. “There’s no CGI, it’s all old-school sculpting and models. In the film, I have to eat a zombie platter. It’s Halloween, so my wife has made all these zombie treats.”
“One of them was a jellied eyeball,” Jericho continued. “And I think it was kind of custard with some kind of almost plastic candy, and I had to eat like five of them. And they were cold, and they were gelatinous. And it was really kind of getting to me. It was really gross.”
