Anthony Bourdain transcended the culinary world and became a cultural icon. His passing in 2018 was mourned by many and his loss has been felt ever since.
Thus, the notion of a documentary on the beloved chef was one that titillated fans when it was first rumoured many years ago. Now, that dream has edged closer to reality ahead of this summer’s release with the launch of the first trailer.
Roadrunner is set to hit theatres on July 16th 2021 via Focus Features, with Morgan Neville directing the tale of Bourdain’s life story.
Neville has said that the feature will reflect Bourdain’s output by telling his story “in his own voice and in the way he indelibly impacted the world around him.”
The unique documentary will mingle archival footage, with a slew of home video clips and interviews with his nearest and dearest including Alison Mosshart of The Kills to offer an insight into his life.
The documentary is set to premiere at Tribeca Film Festival, where Morgan Neville will be presenting Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain, which tracks the life of the late culinary and cultural legend, with “the same energy, curiosity, and deep humanity that made Anthony Bourdain the superstar whose life touched so many.”
