Following the success of A Quiet Place, a trailer has been released for the prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, which is set for release on June 28th.
The movie will explore the events that unfolded on the first day the monsters, that hunt using sound came to Earth. The trailer shows clips from the original movie and its subsequent sequels before taking a trip back through time and panning to a noise-filled New York. A Quiet Place: Day One will star Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn as its two main leads.
Nyong’o said of the upcoming film: “This notion of a quiet New York is one that will arrest many. It’s an impossible thing to imagine… When you live there, you block out all the sound quite naturally.”
“You just forget to hear the sound. I realised how hard it would be to survive in a world that required you to be silent in that particular city,” the actor added
The story for the prequel has been developed by A Quiet Place creator, John Krasinski, and writer-director, Michael Sarnoski. It will give a complete story of the origin of the monsters and how the world failed to adapt to their arrival.
In A Quiet Place: Day One, Sam, played by Nyong’o, is visiting New York on a day trip and ends up teaming up with Quinn’s character, Eric, as they try to survive the silent city together.
“When you have a family, there is an innate expectation that they will want to stick together,” said Nyong’o about the first movie, “We don’t have that in this film. We have these disparate individuals who collide into each other’s lives, and it is at a very pivotal time for the world.”
