Watch Ralph Fiennes star in first trailer for ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’
The first trailer has been unveiled for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, starring Ralph Fiennes.
The upcoming movie, which is set for release on January 6th, 2026, carries on from where this summer’s 28 Years Later ended as viewers are greeted by Alfie Williams’ Spike, Jack O’Connell’s Jimmy Crystal and Fiennes as Dr Kelson.
As the trailer shows, England is still in a ruinous state due to the rage virus, which continues to cause devastation. The cast also includes Emma Laird, Maura Bird, Erin Kellyman and Chi Lewis-Parry.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) finds himself in a shocking new relationship — with consequences that could change the world as they know it — and Spike’s encounter with Jimmy Crystal becomes a nightmare he can’t escape.”
It continues: “In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival — the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying.”
While he won’t have a major role in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, Cillian Murphy will briefly appear in the upcoming movie and is set to take on a much more significant importance in the third instalment in the trilogy.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is directed by Nia DaCosta, written and produced by Alex Garland, with Danny Boyle also taking on producer duties.
DaCosta recently told Rolling Stone of her vision for the film: “My big pitch when I was talking to the producers, including Danny and Alex, before I came on was, ‘I’m going to make this my own. I’m not going to try to make a Danny Boyle movie.’ Because that’s impossible to make. He’s so special. And it didn’t really interest me”.
