Watch the 1993 Nick Cave documentary ‘Straight To You’ in full

In 1993, director Nanni Jacobson released the Nick Cave documentary Straight To You, a portrait into the life of the Bad Seeds frontman.

“Rock singer and poet Nick Cave, a versatile artist who gained importance over the years,” the synopsis reads. “Jacobson also wrote the scenario that was built around a long conversation with the singer. From Australia and his work with the Birthday Party to his current city, Berlin, with The Bad Seeds.”

Starring band members such as Blixa Bargeld and Mick Harvey, Straight To You arrived as the first authorised Nick Cave documentary which was subsequently broadcast in multiple countries around the world.

Named after a Bad Seeds single from the band’s 1992 album Henry’s Dream, the film offers an intimate glimpse inside the journey Cave took from his Australian beginnings, the chaotic London shows of The Birthday Party, to settling on the more complete creative vision of the Bad Seeds.
