Watch Matty Healy hop, skip, dance and sing with The 1975 tribute band at his stag do

Matty Healy is celebrating his forthcoming wedding in a peculiar fashion, including a chaotic performance with a The 1975 tribute band on his stag do.

Healy, who is set to marry American model Gabbriette, is currently celebrating the lead-up to the big day with friends, family, and “the world’s first tribute band to The 1975, according to The 9075.

In a video doing the rounds on social media, Healy can be seen joining the tribute band on stage. In one clip, he performs ‘The Sound’, the fourth single from their second album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It.

Healy hops around the stage in front of a small crowd before calling back the frontman of the tribute band with a drunken, “Where is he? Come back!”

In another clip of the party in Malibu, California, Healy is joined by his bandmates, including his drummer George Daniel. In the clip, Healy can be seen crowd surfing to a rendition of the hit song, ‘Sex’.

Healy’s engagement to Gabriette, whose real name is Gabriella Leigh Bechtel, was announced in 2024, after the pair had been dating for nine months. According to reports, the wedding will take place later this month.

This is the first glimpse many of The 1975 have had of Healy performing this year; the band’s most recent show was their Glastonbury headline slot in 2025.

The band had previously announced that they were taking some time to complete their sixth album, the follow-up to 2022’s Being Funny in a Foreign Language.

The band’s manager, Jamie Oborne, provided the update in May last year, sharing, “They’re making a record at the moment. I don’t know when it will come out, but they’re making one.” From what he had heard, Oborne described it as “pretty extraordinary”.
