Watch Louis Theroux make a comical cameo in Louis Theroux diss sketch on ‘SNL UK’
Louis Theroux made a surprise appearance in a sketch on Saturday Night Live UK, which jokingly blasted his considered, albeit often peculiar, presenting style.
The celebrated documentarian was the topic of the pertinently named ‘Looking Theroux the Mirror’ sketch, which opened with cast member Larry Dean dressed in Theroux’s likeness.
Dean began, “I’m Louis Theroux, the pespectical documentarian who makes documentaries about difficult subjects like cults, prisons, and Ann Widdecombe. I’ve had tapas with the Tiger King and done karaoke with the KKK.”
Throughout the sketch, Dean is joined by cast member Al Nash, who also takes on the documentarian’s likeness and speaks through a pseudo-mirror. On the opposite end of the room, host and Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa also portrays Theroux in the same wig and shirt.
The three bumbled through his usual presenting catchphrases, such as “Can I say that? Is that fair to say?” and “Are you finding this awkward?”
After comical dialogue for a few minutes, the trio banded together and delivered the line, “It was in that moment we had a noise complaint.”
Responding to a knock at their door, the real-life Theroux stood at the door and held a straight face through huge cheers. “I’m sorry to be a bother, but you’re actually being quite loud. Is that fair to say?” he asked.
Speaking in unison as a quartet, the cast and Theroux shared, “I learned a lot on my trip to the Travel Lodge. Over the course of the weekend, the Louis’ and I swapped many stories and much saliva. Yes, we had a four-way tongue kiss.”
They went on, “I was too bashful to ask reception for water. So, I ravaged my way through those tiny UHD milks and I hurt all eight of my thumbs opening the packets. Is that right? Is that fair to say?”
The episode, which aired on May 16th and saw Holly Humberstone feature as musical guest, was the season finale of the new show. However, fans can rest assured that the satire has been renewed for a second season.
