Live from London: ‘Saturday Night Live UK’ renewed for second season
Saturday Night Live UK has been renewed for a second season by Sky.
The first season still has two episodes to run, but Sky have been quick to confirm that Saturday Night Live UK will return.
Season one was initially only set to include six episodes, which was later extended to eight, but the second series, to air between autumn 2026 and early 2027, is to feature a total of 12 episodes.
In a statement, Saturday Night Live creator and Saturday Night Live UK executive producer Lorne Michaels said of the renewal, “I’m incredibly proud of our team and the show. It keeps getting better every week.”
Michaels added, “I’m grateful to Dana Strong and Sky for believing in and supporting SNL UK. I’m excited for the season ahead.”
Meanwhile, Phil Edgar Jones OBE, executive Director of unscripted originals at Sky, said: “It’s fair to say people doubted SNL would work in the UK, but thanks to Lorne Michaels, his longtime Saturday Night Live producing team and UTAS UK, alongside our brilliant cast and writers, SNL UK is Sky’s most talked about show of the year.”
Looking ahead to the future, Edgar Jones continued, “It’s now firmly part of the cultural conversation and we’re thrilled the show will be returning in the Autumn, bringing laughter and mischief to our audiences, live from London on a Saturday night!”
Before eyes can shift to season two, Saturday Night Live UK still has two episodes of its current run to fulfil first.
On May 9th, Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham will be taking the reins as host with Myles Smith serving as musical guest. Then, on May 16th, Ncuti Gatwa will host the final episode, with Holly Humberstone bringing the music.
