Watch Harry Styles duet with Stevie Nicks as special guest in London

As Stevie Nicks descended onto the Hyde Park stage in London on July 12th, special guest Harry Styles made a surprise appearance to perform duets with the rock legend on some of her classic hits during the encore.

At BST Hyde Park, Styles joined Nicks for a performance of the song ‘Landslide’ and a duet on her iconic Tom Petty duet, ‘Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.’ The famous Nicks solo smash was initially gifted to her by Petty when putting together her first solo album, Bella Donna. It would be her first major hit as a solo artist following her break from Fleetwood Mac following work on the group’s double album Tusk. Notably, Nicks performed with Petty at the same London venue in 2017 shortly before his death.

After playing ‘Landslide’ with Styles, Nicks paid tribute to Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie and told the London crowd: “At the end of the show, since the end of last year and since Christine passed away, I would say something about her, and I asked Harry to do this with me and it’s a lot to ask someone to sing a heavy song about a best friend that died so suddenly and so sadly. What I want to say to you is that Christine was Harry’s girl, she was my girl, she was your girl, and she loved all of you, and today would’ve been her birthday. Harry thank you, I thank you.”

The performance comes despite news of Nicks having to postpone shows in Manchester and Glasgow following a “minor surgical procedure”. The Fleetwood Mac vocalist had previously postponed various dates in Glasgow and Manchester but had secured her appearance at BST Hyde Park, which has previously hosted other rock legends like Bruce Springsteen and The Rolling Stones in the past few years.

Furthermore, Mick Fleetwood was in attendance, the drummer said in a recent interview with Mojo, “I’m gonna get myself a vicarious fix. For once, I get to be a punter in the audience and see them do all the work.”

While many fans have also anxiously awaited the possibility of a Fleetwood Mac reunion, Nicks has previously said that there was little hope for any shows or tours following the death of pianist McVie. Nicks had also not been on good terms with fellow songwriter Lindsey Buckingham, who had been fired from the group in 2018.

Of course, Styles’ appearance is far from the first time that he has praised Nicks’s work. When she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Styles gave her induction speech, saying, “She’s so wise and serene. She sees all the drama and the romance in the world, and she celebrates it. She will stand onstage introducing her songs, telling you she wrote them honestly like you’re the only other person in the world.”

This is far from the first time that Styles has sung Nicks’ material. He previously performed ‘Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around’ with her at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and also duetted with her on ‘Landslide’ and her solo duet ‘Leather and Lace’ at The Troubadour, taking over Don Henley’s original vocals.

Nicks has also been highly complimentary of Styles in the past as well, even calling him one of the musical children that she never had. For the past few years, Styles had been on the road promoting his 2022 album Harry’s House, however this marks the first time that he has performed in almost a year.
