Stevie Nicks forced to postpone upcoming shows following surgery

As the first female double Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Stevie Nicks has gathered a legion of fans away from her origins as Fleetwood Mac’s ethereal lead singer. However, some of those fans will now be feeling a little disappointed following the news that she is cancelling some upcoming shows.

The news will be a big blow to fans in Glasgow and Manchester who were set to watch the singer perform at the arenas as, following surgery, Nicks has been forced to postpone the upcoming shows.

A statement released on the OVO Hydro Twitter channel read: “Due to a recent leg injury requiring a minor surgical procedure that will need a few days of recovery time, Stevie Nicks’ scheduled performances in Glasgow Saturday 6 July and Manchester Tuesday 9 July have been postponed “

While fans will certainly be concerned for Nicks’ wellbeing, the Fair Ticketing Alliance noted that announcing the cancellation of such a large show on the day of the event was not good practice. Their tweet read: “Not sure this is very fair, announcing this on the afternoon of the event?!?!”

Postponing the event just hours before she was due on stage will be unlikely to garner much sympathy from fans. However, the noted “minor surgery” may also suggest that her upcoming performance at the BST Hyde Park event later this week may also be in jeopardy.

The BST Festival has been a frontrunner in the capital for bringing huge acts to Hyde Park’s mammoth stage and has seen Bruce Springsteen and The Rolling Stones perform in recent years.

Nicks had been tipped to deliver a similarly brilliant show but has now cast her appearance into doubt as she cancels two major events so close to the performance date.
