Watch Happyness play an intimate ‘Tiny Desk’ session
One of Far Out’s favourite new bands Happyness have recorded an encapsulating session for NPR as part of the streaming site’s ‘Tiny Desk’ series.
The three-song performance sees the trio – comprised of Jonny Allan, Benji Compston and Ash Cooper – on top form as they play versions of ‘Montreal Rock Band Somewhere’, ‘It’s On You’ and ‘Weird Little Birthday Girl’.
The session takes place in a tiny recording space cluttered with bookshelves and many an intriguing heirloom – a setting that perfectly suits the slight awkwardness of the band’s between-song banter and their lo-fi sound, which is played out through miniature amps…Think Yo La Tengo in their infancy.
The band will be performing at End of the Road festival tomorrow afternoon, but if you can’t make it rest assured you can stream the NPR session below.
