Watch Father John Misty cover Lana Del Ray

Papa John is no stranger to a cover, with his recognisable sound he can apply himself across the musical spectrum and turn most tracks in to something you might imagine him to release himself. He’s just applied this talent to Lana Del Ray’s ‘Ride’.

Josh Tillman was performing at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards in Beverly Hills. But in addition to presenting Lana Del Rey with the ‘Global Impact Award’, he went on to perform a cover of her 2012 track ‘Ride’ from The Paradise Edition, the deluxe version of Born to Die.

“It strikes me as vaguely ironic to give a songwriting award to someone who just seems to effortlessly radiate songs, but I know how hard you work and what you do and I think everybody else does,” he said after his performance. “You can take all the crack songwriters and put them in a bunker for a thousand years and they would not come up with ‘I Fucked My Way [Up] to the Top,’ ever.” reported Pitchfork.
