Watch Daniel Day-Lewis star in first trailer for ‘Anemone’
The first trailer has arrived for Anemone, marking Daniel Day-Lewis‘ first role in eight years.
In the teaser, viewers are introduced to Sean Bean’s character, who travels out into the woods to come face-to-face with his estranged brother, played by Day-Lewis, and the two have a tense exchange in the bleak, gloomy setting.
The cast also features Samuel Bottomley, Safia Oakley-Green and Samantha Morton. Day-Lewis co-wrote Anemone with his son Ronan Day-Lewis, who directs the movie.
Anemone’s synopsis reads: “Co-written by father and son, the Northern England–set Anemone begins as a middle-aged man (Sean Bean) sets out from his suburban home on a journey into the woods, where he reconnects with his estranged hermit brother (Day-Lewis).”
It continues: “Bonded by a mysterious, complicated past, the men share a fraught, if occasionally tender relationship—one that was forever altered by shattering events decades earlier.
Anemone is also described as “an emotional powerhouse” and a directorial debut that “is assured in both small details and grand gestures as it charts the path toward familial redemption against all odds.”
The upcoming movie is set to receive its world premiere next month at the New York Film Festival before being released in the UK on November 7th, 2025.
