Watch Brad Pitt in first trailer for ‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth’

The first trailer for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, the hotly anticipated sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood starring Brad Pitt, has been released.

The teaser premiered on February 8th during the Super Bowl, providing the first glimpse of Pitt reprising his role as the suave stuntman.

While it did not offer up many details as to the plot of the film, the trailer’s retro stylisation emphasises that this second instalment has moved forward in time to the 1970s, following on from the conclusion of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

At the end of that film, released in 2019, the characters of Cliff Booth and Rick Dalton, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, were seen changing the course of history by swooping in and killing the Manson family murderers.

Although DiCaprio is not expected to return for the second movie, Pitt is reprising the role alongside an ensemble cast featuring Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Scott Caan, and Carla Gugino. Timothy Olyphant will also return in his original role of James Stacy.

The trailer showed many similar hallmarks to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, except notably all references to alcohol, drugs, and nudity were jokingly censored out to suit the primetime TV spot.

In a switch of the personnel for the sequel, Quentin Tarantino has passed over the directing reins from the first movie to David Fincher, while the coveted filmmaker will serve as the writer.

When details of the film first emerged last year, Pitt revealed at the time: “It’s an episode, not really a sequel, of the character from Once Upon A Time. He [Tarantino] didn’t want to direct it at this point, so our mutual friend David Fincher stepped in, and we’re going to start filming in July. It should be really good fun.”

Although an official release date has not been announced for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, it is expected to arrive this year on Netflix.
