Viola Davis to reprise her role in ‘Suicide Squad’ reboot
Academy Award winning actress Viola Davis will return as Task Force X leader Amanda Waller in the Suicide Squad reboot, director James Gunn has revealed.
According to reports made in DigitalSpy, Gunna has decided to bring back the Oscar winner along with original film characters Captain Boomerang and Harley Quinn who is played by Margot Robbie.
The news comes after Far Out reported earlier this week that Idris Elba will not be replacing Will Smith as the character ‘Deadshot’ in the new film. Instead, it is believed Elba has been handed an unknown, unspecified character in the film by director Gunn.
The original Suicide Squad film, which starred the likes of Smith, Jared Leto and Margot Robbie, was a massive hit and grossed in excess of $746 million worldwide at box office.
Warner Bros. has scheduled The Suicide Squad for August 6, 2021.
