‘Victoria’ and ‘The Last Kingdom’ star Adrian Schiller dead at 60
British actor Adrian Schiller, best known for his roles in The Last Kingdom and Victoria, has passed away aged 60.
The news of Schiller’s death has been confirmed by his talent agency Scott Marshall Partners, who worked closely with the late actor for three decades. In a statement, they shared: “He has died far too soon, and we, his family and close friends are devastated by the loss.”
The agency continued: “His death was sudden and unexpected and no further details around its cause are yet available. A prodigiously talented actor, he had just returned from Sydney, where he had been appearing in The Lehman Trilogy and was looking forward to continuing the international tour in San Francisco.”
As mentioned above, Schiller’s most recent acting appearance was a theatre role in Australia in The Lehman Trilogy, which is scheduled to visit San Francisco next. Schiller was last seen on television screens in January, when he showed up on the BBC’s drama series Father Brown.
Moreover, in 2021, Schiller featured in two episodes of Death In Paradise. His impressive list of credits also includes Doctor Who, Beauty and the Beast, The Danish Girl, The Mercy, Son of God and Suffragette.
Tributes have begun to pour in for Schiller. Rufus Norris, director at the National Theatre in London, said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened and shocked to have lost our company member and friend, Adrian Schiller. Adrian was a wonderful actor, and the National Theatre had the pleasure of working with him throughout the breadth of his career.”
“His recent performance as Henry Lehman in the Australian premiere of The Lehman Trilogy was superb and his presence within the company will be greatly missed,” the message continued.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time,” Norris concluded the heartfelt statement by writing.
Meanwhile, screenwriter Sarah Phelps said of Schiller on X: “Oh god, dreadful, dreadful news about Adrian Schiller. Brilliant actor. I used to be his dresser at the RSC and he was lovely and so funny. Heartfelt condolences to all his family and his friends.”
Additionally, The Toast of London’s Tracy-Ann Oberman wrote on the social media platform: “Absolutely gutted to hear about the sudden passing of Adrian Schiller – the most wonderful actor , ally and mensch. So sorry to hear this news. May your memory be a blessing.”
This is a developing story.
