
Venice 2025: Full line-up of premieres revealed including ‘The Smashing Machine’ and ‘Frankenstein’
The full line-up of premieres for the Venice Film Festival 2025 has been revealed, with films including The Smashing Machine and Frankenstein.
The festival features a raft of Hollywood movies from the second it kicks off at the end of August, most notably including the premiere of the Benny Safdie UFC drama The Smashing Machine, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Emily Blunt, which is set for release in cinemas on October 3rd.
It will be joined by the competition premiere of Frankenstein, directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaac, which will be released on Netflix in November.
Additionally, Jay Kelly, the Noah Baumbach-helmed movie, featuring George Clooney and Adam Sandler in the lead roles. The film is also set to hit Netflix on December 5th, following a theatrical release beginning on November 14th.
Elsewhere, other notable mentions include The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow’s return to filmmaking for the first time in eight years with A House of Dynamite.
Meanwhile, Julian Schnabel will premiere his latest film In The Hand of Dante, which features an all-star cast comprised of Oscar Isaac, Martin Scorsese, Gerard Butler, and Gal Gadot.
For Scorsese, it marks a further foray into acting after a giant Hollywood directorial career. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in the Apple TV series The Studio last week.
The jury for this year’s Venice Film Festival will be headed up by Alexander Payne, who is joined by Stéphane Brizé, Maura Delpero, Cristian Mungiu, Mohammad Rasoulof, Fernanda Torres, and Zhao Tao.
The Venice Film Festival will take place from August 27th until September 6th, 2025.
