An alternative and previously unheard version of Van Halen song ‘Runnin’ with the Devil’ has surfaced online.
The new version, which features an extended guitar solo from Eddie Van Halen, was added to streaming service YouTube by a Van Halen fan account who claimed that the track was made from the original 24-track session masters.
The original track, which was released as the second single from Van Halen’s 1978 eponymous debut album, is regarded by many to be one of the greatest hard rock tracks of all time. On the alternative version, however, we get a taste of what Van Halen would sound like with a bit more funk in their repertoire.
“Van Halen Fans rejoice,” a YouTube description states. “As a huge Van Halen fan, it gives me great pleasure to share this remix which features an alternate ‘Diamond Dave’ vocal AND an extended guitar solo. Made from the original 24-track session masters.”
