U2 share lead single ‘Street of Dreams’ from upcoming new album

U2 are teasing their long-awaited upcoming album with the brand new single, ‘Street of Dreams’.

The uplifting track, produced by Jacknife Lee, arrives with a video that sees the band perform on the top of the bus in a street in Mexico City, which caused a huge crowd to gather and watch them premiere their new single.

However, what U2 didn’t account for when shooting the video was the extreme weather, which caused their performance to be cut short due to the possibility of thunder and lightning.

Thankfully, a local resident allowed U2 to walk through their apartment and use their balcony to play an acoustic set to those on the street, much to the delight of their fans in Mexico City.

On ‘Street of Dreams’, Bono sings, “La calle, calle de los sueños, All the doors are open on the street of dreams”.

The video also sees Larry Mullen Jr back in the fold, too, after he previously missed out on their residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas after undergoing neck surgery.

It’s been a busy year for U2 in regards to new music so far in 2026. Firstly, they shared the politically charged Days of Ash EP to mark Ash Wednesday on February 18th, which they followed up with their Easter Lily EP at the end of Lent.

There’s also a new album on the way, which will feature ‘Streets of Dreams’. As of writing, no official release date or title have been formally announced.

In a prior update in April, Bono shared with U2 fans, “We are in the studio, still working towards a noisy, messy, ‘unreasonably colour xerox’ album to play LIVE… which is where U2 lives.”

Lamenting against the state of the world, he added, “We still look to vivid rock n roll as an act of resistance against all this awfulness on our small screens. These are for sure ‘wilderness years’ for so many of us looking at the mayhem out there in the world. It’s a time that has our band digging deeper into our lives to find a wellspring of songs to try to meet the moment…”
