Ty Segall shares new single, ‘My Best Friend’

As we rapidly approach the release date of Ty Segall’s latest album, Three Bells, the Californian multi-instrumentalist has released a new single, ‘My Best Friend’.

The track, reportedly an ode to Segall’s two dogs, Herman and Fanny, is the final single to be released from Three Bells. Previously released tracks ‘Void’, ‘Eggman’ and ‘My Room’ offer some promise that this latest album will be worth the wait.

‘My Best Friend’, as the title implies, is a fairly wholesome track, though it maintains the fuzzy, distorted guitars and glam-rock-influenced vocals. The single dropped alongside a self-directed music video featuring both of Segall’s dogs. Predominantly featuring POV shots created by strapping a camera to the backs of the dogs, the video showcases the everyday lives of Segall and his pups. It offers a heartwarming accompaniment to the track.

Three Bells is due to be released in full on January 26th via Drag City. It will be his 15th studio release, his first since 2022’s acclaimed Hello, Hi

The album is the cause of great excitement for the garage rocker, as he shared, “I’m excited for this record to exist. It was made with my friend Cooper Crain at Harmonizer Studios”. The album also sees Segall sharing songwriting duties, “My lovely wife Denée and I wrote five of the songs together. She also made the album cover.”

Alongside the album release, Segall is set to embark on an extensive tour of North America, followed by a variety of European dates during the Summer. He is set to visit the UK in June, with dates in Manchester, Glasgow, London and Bristol.
