‘Twin Peaks’ set to arrive on MUBI

The iconic horror-drama series, Twin Peaks, directed by the late David Lynch, is set to arrive in its entirety on MUBI in June.

The arrival of Twin Peaks on the streaming platform on June 13th comes 35 years after the first series of the cult classic aired on ABC. Despite its lasting appeal, the broadcaster cancelled Twin Peaks after only two seasons before it was revived in 2017 by Showtime for the limited series Twin Peaks: The Return.

From June 13th, the whole back catalogue of Twin Peaks will be available to watch on MUBI. Katharina Feistauer, VP Global Head of Programming, MUBI, says: “Launching Twin Peaks alongside Twin Peaks: A Limited Event Series is a dream for MUBI, bringing one of the most loved and discussed series in TV history to the platform.”

Feistauer continued: “Whilst this launch has been months in the making, the sad news of David Lynch’s death only a few weeks ago makes this opportunity to show his iconic work even more special. We are excited for the Lynch fans in our membership to revisit the episodes comprehensively, as well creating an opportunity for new audiences to discover it for the first time.”

Lynch co-created Twin Peaks with Mark Frost. Last year, before the director’s death, his close collaborator Sarah S Sutherland hinted that more would possibly come from the universe, stating, “I personally hope there will be more. As for the intention, I don’t know. I know that David has more ideas for another season, but I don’t know about Mark.”

However, Lynch’s death in January has drawn a line under the possibility of the series making a comeback.

Following his passing, Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan paid an emotional tribute to Lynch, writing, “David Lynch plucked me out of obscurity to star in his first and last big-budget movie. He clearly saw something in me that even I didn’t recognize. I owe my entire career, and life really, to his vision.”
