‘Twilight’ franchise post cryptic message suggesting future project

The Twilight universe has come alive once more since the release of the final movie in 2012, following a new, cryptic post that teases an upcoming project.

The Twilight franchise all but defined teen cinema from 2008 to 2012. The series of five movies sees Robert Pattinson play bloodthirsty yet hopelessly romantic vampire Edward Cullen, who falls in love with Kristen Stewart’s clumsy and very human Bella Swan.

The movies concluded in 2012 with the release of Breaking Dawn: Part 2, in which Stewart’s character becomes a vampire and staves off evil for good, forging a happy future in which she, Edward, and werewolf friend Jacob (played by Taylor Lautner) can live peacefully.

The franchise ends with an exchange between Bella and Edward. Lovingly, new vampire Bella says, “We’ve got a lot of time.” Edward replies, “Forever?” to which Bella responds, “Forever.”

In a new social media post shared between Twilight and Lionsgate, the franchise references this ending with the words: “Forever begins again.” The caption simply states, “Tomorrow.”

In the accompanying image, Bella’s red eyes suggest she is a vampire, causing many fans to speculate that new content could be in the works.

However, this most likely points to a theatrical re-release, as the words “This October” are included in the poster. Additionally, the company Fathom Events is referenced in the small print, and has shared the post. They bring classic movies and special filmed events to theatres.

Though the teased date doesn’t match up with any of the film releases, October will mark the 20th anniversary of the release of the first book, written by Stephenie Meyer. The author even had a cameo in the first movie of the franchise.

Lionsgate, which acquired Twilight production company Summit in 2012, has promised more information very soon. In the meantime, fans are left guessing and speculating on exactly what “Forever” might entail.
