Trailer arrives for tense true-story thriller ‘The Lost Bus’ starring Matthew McConaughey

The trailer for The Lost Bus, a tense true-story survival drama starring Matthew McConaughey, has been released.

McConaughey leads the cast as a school bus driver who must save a class of young school children through the deadly wildfire that swept through Paradise, California, in 2018.

He stars opposite fellow Oscar nominee America Ferrera, who plays the teacher responsible for getting the group of 23 students to safety. The film is also set to feature an ensemble cast consisting of Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson, Spencer Watson, and Danny McCarthy.

The trailer depicts intense scenes in which McConaughey puts his life on the line for the sake of the children, while also grappling with his own role as a father to a young son trapped in the flames.

The movie is being directed by Paul Greengrass, inspired by the book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire released in 2018 by Lizzie Johnson, which told the story of how the Camp Fire became the deadliest event recorded in the history of California.

Hollywood actor Jamie Lee Curtis is producing the film on behalf of Comet Films alongside Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions.

The Lost Bus is due to have its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, where it will join a range of other high-profile new releases, including Christy starring Sydney Sweeney and California Schemin’, directed by James McAvoy.

The North American premieres of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and The Smashing Machine starring Dwayne Johnson will also take place at the festival, which will be held from September 4th until September 14th.

Following its premiere, The Lost Bus will have a short theatrical run from September 19th, before transferring to Apple TV+ for streaming on October 3rd.
