Trailer for Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ movie premieres during Super Bowl

In the grand tradition of Super Bowl adverts featuring special creations from brands or the premiere of trailers for upcoming movies, Brad Pitt launched his first preview for his highly anticipated F1 movie.

Ahead of the game starting between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, the trailer for F1, Apple TV’s newest project, stars Pitt alongside Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies and Javier Bardem, was shown. Having been teased for a while and discussed through updates in it’s filming, the trailer was the first true insight into the project, also sharing its release date.

Telling the tale of Sonny Hayes, a fictional Formula One driver played by Pitt, the movie is about him being forced into retirement until another team owner asks him to mentor a rookie.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the script was written by Ehren Kruger, marking the duo’s first collaboration since 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick

There are also a number of real-life drivers on board with the movie. Lewis Hamilton is signed on as a producer, working alongside the creators to bring accuracy to the film. Other real life Formula One stars set to feature in the film are Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, Fernando Alonso, and more.

For Damson Idris, the project is a dream. In an interview with Vanity Fair, he said, “I look to my left, it’s Brad Pitt. I look to my right, it’s Javier Bardem. I look at my hands, they’re shaking.” Getting to work alongside real drivers was incredible, too, as he added, “And we shoot all of this epic stuff, and all the amazing drivers are there, from Lewis [Hamilton] to [Max] Verstappen to everyone.”

As the trailer was shown ahead of the 2025 Super Bowl, the release date was revealed. F1 will open exclusively in cinemas worldwide on June 25th, 2025.
